We are a proud member of the Social Services Network of Sarnia-Lambton (SSNSL).
Imagine a city that looks just like Sarnia-Lambton, but lacks any kind of social services. A city that offers no empowering services for the elderly, no counselling services for families in distress, no after-school programs for youth and absolutely no reading or writing assistance. This version of Sarnia-Lambton may look the same, but it would feel much colder, harsher and lonelier. That is why it is so important that Sarnia-Lambton offer all of these social service programs and many more, thanks to the Social Service Network of Sarnia-Lambton.
The Social Service Network of Sarnia-Lambton (SSNSL), founded in 2004, works to “strengthen the capacity and promote the values of community based health and social services throughout Sarnia-Lambton.” SSNSL consists of over 20 charitable human service organizations which work together to achieve this goal through networking to better identify service gaps and duplications, effectively speaking to stakeholders regarding issues in the service sector, presenting effective joint projects/funding proposals and improving communication.
SSNSL agencies’ 500 full-time staff members work to affect or support more than 40,000 citizens of Sarnia-Lambton. They support youth by sponsoring a YMCA Celebration of Youth Award, which provides an excellent student in Sarnia-Lambton with a scholarship of $1200 to benefit his or her education. SSNSL brings their knowledge, expertise, and compassion when working with the community and individuals to help make Sarnia-Lambton a better place to work, live and grow.
